A NOTE ON ADERYN
Following the events of Dragon Age 2, Aderyn is not...exactly mentally stable. The loss of her entire family, everything she's worked for, the eventual dispersing of her friends, and being thrust into a revolution all took a toll on her sanity, and now's she's a bit of a giggling lunatic, who claims to see dead people, tells jokes and makes snarky snide comments as opposed to actually talking to people, and has a pet spider because she thought it was a good idea.
It's unclear whether or not this is an act on Aderyn's part, as she has been known to break down and cry to herself when she's sure nobody's looking, but that may just be another layer of her mental instability.
Despite that, she has insisted on being involved in the mage revolution as she won't leave Anders, who she loves and feels responsible for, having taken the blame and guilt from the Chantry explosion onto herself.
Anders feels responsible for increasing instability, as well as responsible for her safety.
Don't be fooled, though. She's nuts, but she's also incredibly powerful.
